Bulgaria's national security and defense are only guaranteed within the framework of NATO's collective defense. This is what Prime Minister Boyko Borissov stated aboard the US aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman, where he, along with his delegation, took part in a NATO guided tour. Together with the Bulgarian Prime Minister aboard the US Navy aircraft carrier were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov, Chief of the Defense General Andrey Botsev, Commander of the Navy Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov and Commander of the Air Force Major General Tsanko Stoykov.
"I highly appreciate your contribution to maintaining the importance of the transatlantic link and the successful accomplishment of the Alliance's missions," Prime Minister Borissov said during his guided tour of the US Navy aircraft carrier Harry Truman. The Prime Minister noted that our country views the participation in NATO missions and operations as a top priority and intends to maintain its commitment and contribution to them. "Bulgaria will continue to support the Alliance's efforts to achieve global peace and security," Prime Minister Borissov said. He also focused on the excellent cooperation between Bulgaria and the US in a number of areas, which is of great importance in the context of the challenges facing international relations .
"Together, we are stronger in all areas - we are NATO allies, defense partners, energy partners, business partners and much more. By water and by land, we are strong together, "said US Ambassador to Bulgaria Herro Mustafa.
On board of the aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman, Prime Minister Borissov and his delegation were accompanied by a delegation from the Republic of North Macedonia and representatives of the US Embassies in Sofia and Skopje. The delegation of the Republic of North Macedonia included Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Radmila Šekerinska and Chief of Defense Major General Vasko Gjurchinovski.
US Navy Admiral James Gordon Foggo III, commander of the United States Naval Forces Europe – Naval Forces Africa and commander of the Allied Joint Force Command Naples, welcomed delegations aboard the aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman.
Harry S. Truman is the eighth Nimitz-class aircraft carrier of the United States Navy, named after 33rd President of the United States, Harry S. Truman. Currently, the US aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman is in the area of responsibility of the Sixth U.S. Fleet.
