Therefore we must proceed fast with the approval of the next 2021-2027 EU budget and the Recovery Package that are crucially instrumental in enabling all member states and the European economy as a whole to overcome the effects,” said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov at his VTC meeting with the ambassadors of the EU member states and the Swiss Confederation.

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister was firm that all possible efforts should be made to reach an agreement on the Multiannual Financial Framework and on the Recovery Package as soon as possible so that the funds and programs be released right from the beginning of 2021.

The achievement of climate neutrality in the EU by 2050, efficacious measures against the coronavirus and the European perspective for the Western Balkans were also central in the online meeting. “It was the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU that put the Western Balkans’ European future high on the EU agenda,” Mr. Borissov said further.
