IN A CALL WITH THE EC PRESIDENT JUNCKER, PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV MADE THE COMMITMENT THAT BULGARIA WILL SHORTLY NOMINATE A CANDIDATE FOR EUROPEAN COMMISSIONER

The President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker personally congratulated Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on the occasion of his third mandate as leader of the executive in Bulgaria. Juncker noted that he is glad to express his best wishes on this impressive success for Borissov, not only in Borissov’s capacity of an experienced statesman but also as a good friend. According to the EC President, the governing wisdom accumulated over the years will be a guarantee for a strong and confident start of the new mandate.

During the call, Jean-Claude Juncker insisted that the Bulgarian government nominates a candidate for member of the European Commission as soon as possible. Prime Minister Borissov made the commitment that the nomination will be discussed during the first session of the government on Wednesday.

The EC President expressed his conviction that under the leadership of Prime Minister Borissov our country will continue to follow unequivocally its European path. He highlighted the big responsibility that Bulgaria carries as an upcoming President of the Council of the EU. 

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov pointed out that, as until now, for the future he will continue to be guided by the interests of Bulgarian citizens, thereby supporting common decisions for the prosperity of the EU. He confirmed that the preparation and conduction of the Bulgarian Presidency is a priority for the government. The Prime Minister also put an emphasis on other important policies in the work of the government, which will provide for financial discipline, economic growth and improvement in the quality of life of people in Bulgaria
