FEDERAL CHANCELLOR ANGELA MERKEL CONGRATULATED PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV ON HIS THIRD MANDATE AS PRIME MINISTER

The Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel congratulated Boyko Borissov for his appointment as Prime Minister of Bulgaria. According to her, the phenomenal success of Borissov to be at the forefront of a government for the third time has shown the trust that is vested in him and that he is a courageous person.

In a phone call the Chancellor expressed her conviction that the two will continue their excellent cooperation in the future. Merkel noted that she relies on the forthcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU to be constructive and helpful for the Union.

Prime Minister Borissov informed Chancellor Merkel about the main priorities, which the new government will start its work with. He pointed out the significance of financial discipline and the policy for deficit reduction in 2017 with the aim of attaining a balanced budget in 2020 and of the acceleration of the economic growth for a considerable increase of the GDP and citizens’ income.

We continue on the path of Euro-Atlantic integration of our country and we will work for reforming the EU in the name of its successful development and enlargement, added the Prime Minister. Borissov also underlined that the government will be a guarantor for the ethnic peace in the country and all rights of the citizens will be equally respected.

Chancellor Merkel invited Prime Minister Borissov to visit Germany at a convenient time.
