Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev met with the Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for jobs, growth, investment and competitiveness, Jyrki Katainen, who is on a two-day visit to Bulgaria.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov and the Deputy Minister of Economy Liliya Ivanova. The focus of the talks was the topic of circular economy.
Deputy Prime Minister Donchev emphasised that the transition to a resource-efficient circular economy is essential to achieving smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, and is one of the priorities for the Bulgarian government.
"Proper messages towards the consumers, enhanced dialogue, and close cooperation with the industry and academia are essential to accelerate the transition," Deputy Prime Minister Donchev said.
Those attending the meeting agreed on the idea of creating a European platform for exchanging
experience in the field of circular economy, in which all Member States would participate.
