04.07.2023

Bulgaria is eager to expand its traditionally good cooperation with Germany in the field of education, science and innovation. This was stated by Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov at his meeting with H.E. Mrs. Irene Plank, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Prime Minister cited a number of positive examples of fruitful interaction of German investors with secondary schools and universities in Bulgaria. The government is ready to promote this dialog so that a greater number of German companies may acquire firsthand knowledge about opportunities as afforded for such cooperation. The goal is to have more and more programs that contribute to excellent education in Bulgaria and to training highly skilled work force for the businesses.

Ambassador Irene Plank welcomed the vigorous interaction in education and science and in the field of security and defense. The German side expressed its desire that a military attaché be accredited to the Embassy in Sofia. On his part, Acad. Denkov noted Bulgaria’s intention to increase spending on defense and make it 2% of the GDP by next year, as per the goal set by NATO. The government intends to develop the military-industrial complex in order to contribute to the overall economic growth of the European Union.
