BULGARIA DISCUSSED WITH THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION THE REALIZATION OF THE PROJECT FOR THE “BALKAN” GAS HUB

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov discussed the development of the project for the European gas hub “Balkan” with the Director of Directorate “Internal Energy Market” at Directorate General “Energy” of the European Commission Klaus-Dieter Borchardt.

During the meeting, initiated at the Council of Ministers today, Prime Minister Borissov highlighted that for Bulgaria it is a main priority to maintain its role as a transit center while the project for the “Balkan” gas hub is key because it will contribute to the diversification of sources and routes of gas in Bulgaria and South East Europe and will serve as a platform for the gas market for the entire region.

The conversation was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Dontchev and the Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova, who discussed the future steps and subsequent actions for the implementation of the project within the context of the results from the pre-project impact analysis that is expected to be finalized by the end of this year.
