BULGARIA AND THE US DISCUSSED COOPERATION IN THE ENERGY FIELD AND AGREED ON GUARANTEEING THE ENERGY SECURITY IN THE REGION

The Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Dontchev and the Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova met with the Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs Mery Warlick.

 

During the meeting, the progress on the inter-connector between Bulgaria and Greece was discussed, as well as the future activities on the project, the European position on North Stream II, the possibilities for diversification of the nuclear fuel and the project for the Nuclear Power Plant “Belene”.

 

Mrs. Warlick presented the commitments made by the US in regard to the European energy policy, directed towards assisting the implementation of projects related to diversification of sources and routes for delivery of energy resources.

 

The participants at the meeting agreed on the future cooperation between Bulgaria and the US in the energy field with the aim of guaranteeing the energy security in South East Europe.
