“Dear Prime Minister, Dear Boyko, Please accept my warm congratulations on your appointment as Prime Minister of Bulgaria,” starts the letter from the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker to Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
Juncker points to the momentous time that the government of Boyko Borissov takes office and expresses his hope that the common work will be continued in addressing the challenges of the European Union on the basis of common institutions and strong values making it a community of peace, freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, a major economic power with unparalleled levels of social protection and welfare.
“As we, the leaders of the European Union, agreed in Rome in March, we want a European Union that is safe and secure, prosperous, competitive, sustainable and socially responsible, and with the will and capacity of playing a key role in the world,” highlights Juncker.
The President of the EC also points to some of the important tasks on the EU agenda that require determination and committed work during the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Those include strengthening the protection of the external borders, a successful and more solidarious management of the common migration and asylum policies, completion of the digital single market and increasing the resilience of the Energy Union.
“I wish you every success for your government and on a personal level I am delighted that we can continue our close partnership. I look forward to seeing you very soon,” adds Jean-Claude Juncker.
The President of the European People’s Party (EPP) Joseph Daul also expressed his support for Boyko Borissov’s appointment as Prime Minister of Bulgaria in a congratulatory letter. “I would like to congratulate you on your new mandate as Prime Minister of Bulgaria and on the formation of the new government. As President of the EPP and as a friend, I have welcomed this news with great joy,” points out Joseph Daul. In his letter, the EPP President wishes every success to the new government.
