Digital transformation, innovation and the development of Artificial Intelligence for the purposes of defense and security were the focus of the agenda of the meeting of Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov with Gen. Philippe Lavigne, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation. The discussion touched on the importance of the technological superiority of the Alliance given the present-day threats and challenges.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov specially emphasized the government’s consistent and ambitious policy to modernize the Bulgarian armed forces. In his view, it is needed to plan investments in the field of security and defense in the long term, so that they will be relevant even in 10 or 15 years from now.
Bulgaria’s contribution to NATO and especially to the security of the Eastern Flank was likewise discussed. Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov emphasized the need for better transport, digital and infrastructure connectivity in the region as this would increase mobility and strengthen security.
