DONALD TUSK: BORISSOV AND THE BULGARIAN GOVERNMENT ARE A KEY PARTNER FOR STABILITY ON THE BALKANS

The President of the European Council Donald Tusk expressed his sincere congratulations and wished Prime Minister Borissov every success in his third mandate as Prime Minister. He expressed satisfaction with their common work over the years, as well as confidence that their cooperation will continue to be beneficial and constructive in the future.

In a phone call, Tusk welcomed the responsible attitude of the government on the preparation of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2018 and its strive to place European issues as one of the highlights of the work of the cabinet. According to him, this is another opportunity for our country to have a constructive role in tackling the challenges and protecting the common European values. “I rely on you and your government as a key partner for stability on the Balkans,” added the President of the European Council in his conversation with the Bulgarian Prime Minister. 

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov underlined that our country will remain a consistent defender of Euro-Atlantic integration and of the active participation of Bulgaria in the common work for the development of the EU. Borissov briefly informed Tusk about the main priorities that the cabinet has marked in the beginning of its mandate and that it will work on in the next four years. The Prime Minister expressed hope that the two will have the opportunity to meet soon in order to continue with more in-depth discussion of the important issues from the European agenda.
