Tomislav Donchev - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth

 

Master’s Degree in Philosophy from St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Turnovo. Second subject: journalism. Later, in 2006: a second Master’s Degree in Business Administration, again from the University of Veliko Turnovo.

 

1998: a special course in political science, International Summer School for Political Science and International Relations, Poland.

 

2001: specialization in “Support for high-tech small and medium enterprises and R&D start-ups”, Negev Institute, Israel.

 

2005: business mentoring courses, Business Mentoring Academy, Oxford, UK.

 

1995-2000: volunteer service, member of the governing bodies and officer in various NGOs in the field of education and science; associate in a public opinion poll agency.

 

1997-1999: teacher at St. Cyril and St. Methodius Humanities Hugh School in Veliko Turnovo, teaching psychology, logic, ethics and philosophy.

 

1999-2000: editor, Radio Gabrovo.

 

2000-2004: executive officer of the organization High-Tech Business Incubator, Gabrovo.

 

2004-2007: program manager, Open Society Institute.

 

2007: elected Mayor of Gabrovo. His main priority as a mayor was to attract external funding and to draw up high-quality project proposals that made the Municipality of Gabrovo one of the most successful beneficiaries in Bulgaria in the management of projects with European funding in all areas of socio-economic life. Within just two years, 19 of the 21 project proposals that were put forward received funding.

 

March 2010: Minister of EU Funds Management, Boyko Borissov’s cabinet.

 

May-November 2014: Member of the European Parliament from the EPP/GERB group.

 

7 November 2014: the 43rd National Assembly elected him Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds and Economic Policies.

 

Member of Parliament from GERB Political Party: 42nd, 44th, 45th, 46th, 47th, 48th, 49th, 50th and 51st National Assemblies.

 

4 May 2017: the 44th National Assembly elected him Deputy Prime Minister.
