Education
Graduated from the University of National and World Economy. She has a MA degree in Accountancy and Control. She has undergone training in public sector internal audit at the Department of Finance of Ireland and at the UK HM Treasury and in public financial inspection at the Ministry of Finance of Portugal.
Professional experience:
From 1992 to 2000 she took the position of financial auditor and financial expert at the Public Financial Control Department in Sofia. Her professional career continued as a state internal auditor and head of division at the Public Internal Financial Control Agency (PFIA). Since 2007 she was director of Organisation and Implementation of Inspection Activities Directorate of the Public Financial Inspection Agency. She took this position until 2010 when she was appointed as director of PFIA and she remained at this position until 2013.
In 2014 she became deputy minister of finance in the Bliznashki caretaker government. She was minister of energy from 2014 to 2017 as well as from 2017 to 2021. She was an MP at the 44th, 45th, 46th, 47th, 48th, 49th, 50th and 51th National Assembly. She was deputy chairperson of the Committee on Budget and Finance at the 49th and 50th Parliament.
