Marian Bachev - Minister of Culture
Marian Bachev was born on 8 July 1976 in Sofia.
He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Acting for Drama Theatre in the class of Professor Nadezhda Seykova at the National Academy for Theater and Film Arts (NATFA) „Krastyo Sarafov”. At the same academy he graduated with full honors in his state exams and with an award from the Rector as a Master in the specialty „Management in the Performing Arts“.
He has over 25 years of experience on stage. He has worked in the drama theatres in Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Gabrovo, Kyustendil, Pernik, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Smolyan, Stara Zagora, Targovishte, Shumen, as well as on the stages of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, Satirical Theatre „Aleko Konstantinov“, Youth Theatre, New Drama Theatre „Tear and Laughter“. He was also a full-time actor at Sofia Theatre for 5 years. He has performed as a soloist in the operas in Burgas, Varna, Plovdiv, Ruse and Stara Zagora.
He has dozens of roles for radio theatre. He has acted in many films - Bulgarian and foreign. He has worked on the voice-overs of films and series - both as an actor and as a voice-over director.
He has over 14 years of television experience in „Slavi's Show“ and „Slavi Trifonov's Evening Show“.
Director of the Bulgarian Drama Program at the American College of Sofia.
In his collection of awards he has two prizes for the main male role from the festival in Shumen „New Bulgarian Drama“, the Award for Talented Young Actor of the Ivan Dimov Foundation and four nominations for the prestigious „Asker“ award. In 2015 he won the Best Actor Award at the musical theatre „Lyubimets 13“. In 2021, he also received the award for the leading male role in a comedy/satirical performance „Golden Kukerikon“.
He was elected Minister of Culture by the 51st National Assembly on 16 January 2025.
