The Minister of Education and Science, Krasimir Valchev, has a master's degree in finance. He has graduated from the University of Economics - Varna. He expanded his qualifications with training in "Budget and Financial Management" at Duke University, USA.
He began his professional career in 2002 at the Ministry of Finance, holding various expert positions related to public finances, state budget management, sectoral policies and local government financing. He has also held the position of Director of the Budget and Finance Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
From 2009 to 2017, he was the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science.
In the period 2017 - 2021, Krasimir Valchev is the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Member of Parliament in the 46th, 47th, 49th, 50th and 51st National Assembly. Elected Chairman of the Committee on Education and Science and member of the Committee on Budget and Finance.
Speaks English and French language.
