Born in 1977 in Sofia.
Education:
In 2002 he completed a degree in political science at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. He has participated in the Marshall exchange programmes of the Marshall Memorial Fund (German Marshall Fund of the US), as well as in the Programme des personnalites d’avenir of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France.
Professional career:
On 16 January 2025 he was appointed Minister of Interior in the government of Rosen Zhelyazkov.
In 2021 he was elected as member of the 45th National Assembly. He held this position until 15 January 2025.
On 6 August 2014 he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs by the President Rosen Plevneliev in the caretaker government of Georgi Bliznashki. He maintained his position in the next government of Boyko Borisov.
In 2012 he was appointed Permanent Representative of the National Democratic Institute in Brussels. As representative of the Institute he also worked in Libya, Congo, Ukraine, Yemen, Tunisia and others.
In 2010 he joined the mission of the US National Democratic Institute to Iraq where he was programme manager of the Programme for development and support of the political parties.
In 2006 he took the position of executive director of the Democracy Foundation.
In 2002 he started work in the Political Academy for Central and Southeastern Europe and he was also member of the editors’ team of Intellect Magazine. He worked as an expert in the Publications section of the National Democratic Institute.
