Dragomir Zakov - Minister of Defense

Dragomir Zakov holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and in International Economic Relations. He has specialized in International Security at: George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Garmisch Partenkirchen;  the Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP) and the European Security and Defense College (ESDC).


Dragomir Zakov has a long career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In March 2019 he was appointed as the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to NATO.


His decorations include a medal of honor, silver, awarded by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and a certificate in recognition for the support to the NATO Operation Joint Guardian in Kosovo.


Dragomir Zakov was elected Minister of Defense by the National Assembly on 1 March 2022.
