The interest of Bulgaria and Croatia to deepen their cooperation in a number of areas was the main focus of the meeting of Prime Minister Stefan Yanev with Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman. In the course of their discussion in the Prime Minister’s Office they noted the existence of solid potential for bilateral partnership in a number of areas, including the economy and transport connectivity. To that end, Prime Minister Stefan Yanev delivered to the Croatian Minister a document containing the Bulgarian Government’s proposals for the areas that hold the greatest prospect for progress.

Prime Minister Stefan Yanev expressed a hope that Bulgaria-Croatia cultural contacts would produce new positive results over the next three years thanks to the program of cultural cooperation in 2021-2024 signed earlier today by Croatia’ Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman and Bulgaria’s Minister of Culture Velislav Minekov. Bulgaria’s Prime Minister pointed out that active contacts at ministerial level are essential for reaching new agreements in other areas in the future, so that the two friendly countries continue the fruitful development of their bilateral relations.

Also, Prime Minister Stefan Yanev brought up the 30th anniversary to be marked next year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Croatia. In his view, it would be good to discuss the possibilities for the celebration of this round anniversary, so the event may become an element of the efforts of the two states to work to give a new strategic dimension to their relations. Prime Minister Stefan Yanev and Croatian Minister Gordan Grlić Radman recognized the close partnership of Bulgaria and Croatia within the EU and NATO and the two countries’ similar views on a number of issues, including regional cooperation and the strengthening of stability and prosperity in the Western Balkan countries’ and their European perspective.

Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman congratulated Prime Minister Stefan Yanev on the caretaker government’s performance. The Croatian Minister conveyed the greetings of Croatia’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenković to his Bulgarian counterpart. On his part, Prime Minister Stefan Yanev extended an invitation to Croatia’s Prime Minister to pay a visit to Bulgaria at his convenience.
