Vietnam is our trusted friend and an important partner in the dynamically developing region of Southeast Asia. We follow with interest and highly appreciate the country’s remarkable progress in socio-economic development as well as its important role as a factor of peace and stability in the region. This was stated by Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov at his meeting with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Tô Lâm. At their discussion in the Council of Ministers building, Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov noted that further consolidation and development of friendship and multidimensional sector cooperation with Viet Nam is one of the long-term priorities of Bulgaria’s foreign policy.
With joint efforts we will build on and add a practical dimension to our bilateral relations that evolved to a strategic partnership during this visit, Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov said. The Prime Minister emphasized the traditional friendship, mutual trust and cooperation over the past seven decades. He also recalled that many Vietnamese citizens had studied and worked in Bulgaria and contributed to the mutual familiarity and closeness of the two nations.
Today we will outline the specific guidelines for the upgrading of ties in a wide range of priority areas of our bilateral relations, Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov emphasized and pointed out the potential for interaction in a number of areas – economy, trade, security and defense, innovation, information technologies, digital transition, science, education, culture, agriculture, healthcare and relations between local authorities. This is the entire range of opportunities that exist between our two countries, Rossen Jeliazkov said. As he put it, the bilateral documents that were signed today will help strengthen and expand exchange in various areas of cooperation in the interest of Bulgaria and Viet Nam.
For his part, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Tô Lâm noted that it is Bulgaria that is Viet Nam’s strategic partner Number One in the Balkans. Also, Bulgaria is one of the two strategic partners of Viet Nam in Eastern Europe. Tô Lâm expressed his conviction that this visit to Sofia would give a strong impetus to relations between Bulgaria and Viet Nam and push them to a new level as it opens up great opportunities for the businesses of both countries and improves the competitiveness of both economies. Tô Lâm specially congratulated Bulgaria on its success regarding the Eurozone. In his words, this proves Bulgaria’s deep integration and growing status in the region.
