Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev met with the Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives Fukushiro Nukaga who is visiting Bulgaria. The talks focused on the declared willingness to continue the political dialog and promote relations to the level of strategic partnership, especially in the context of the three anniversaries in 2024: the 115th anniversary of the first official contacts, the 85th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 65th anniversary of their reestablishment. Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said firmly that Japan continues to be Bulgaria’s priority partner and traditional friend.
Japan is one of Bulgaria’s key trade partners in the East Asia region. The meeting discussed the opportunities to attract more Japanese investment, to increase the export of Bulgarian goods and to promote tourism between the two countries.
Dimitar Glavchev and Fukushiro Nukaga agreed unanimously that other areas such as Information Technologies (ITs), startups, the automotive industry, Artificial Intelligence (AI), energy and innovation provide opportunities for the expansion of bilateral partnership. The future presence of Japanese companies in Bulgarian industrial parks was also discussed.
The Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives Fukushiro Nukaga stated that Bulgaria would continue to be a valuable partner not only in bilateral cooperation, but also in the partnership between Europe and Asia.
