Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will be insisting for additional funding for less developed and at the same time depopulated regions, such as Northwestern Bulgaria, during the negotiations on the new EU budget. Prime Minister Borissov outlined before the press in Brussels the main priorities that our country defends when establishing the Multiannual Financial Framework for the period 2021 - 2027. "Cohesion, agricultural policy, the n+3 rule, emissions, when being traded with, to remain in the state budget and not to be transferred to the EU," Borissov explained.

"I look forward to continuing the negotiations, because it is not only about money, everyone wants more of that, but we also aim for more priorities, in addition to old, we have new ones, innovation and cybersecurity, common European defense and Frontex. I am not optimistic that we will figure all of this out today," the Prime Minister further commented. Prime Minister Borissov noted that he would also put an emphasis in front of the heads of state and government on the policies that concern people the most, such as migration and the protection of external borders.

Before media outlets, regarding the Eurozone, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov emphasized the need for a national consensus, so to convince the people, the opposition and the institutions that the euro is the second most important currency in the world and that it means Europe first. "If we do not want to be left behind, we must take this direction," Borissov was certain and reminded that there is no country that has adopted the euro and gotten worse economically. "Both Bulgaria and Croatia will be viewed, not together, in July. Until then, we have time to hear everyone’s opinion,"said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. In his words, it is important for people to be convinced that the Eurozone is something good.
