The caretaker cabinet strictly adheres to the election legislation in force and consistently works to organize fair and transparent elections. This was stated by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev at a meeting with François Valérian, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Transparency International, and Kalin Slavov, Executive Director of Transparency International Bulgaria.
Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev stressed the organization’s international prestige and welcomed its proactive attitude to the transparency of the election process. This year, 2024, is a year of elections globally and for us an important matter is the administration of the vote, the Transparency International officials said. Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev was firm that whatever depends on the caretaker government will be done in the best way.
The fight against corruption was another focus of the talks at the Council of Ministers. Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev highlighted the opportunities for even closer cooperation within the National Council for Anticorruption Policies and the Civil Society Council to it. The Prime Minister and the Transparency International officials unanimously agreed on the importance of vigorous interaction between the institutions, the NGOs and the society.
The Transparency International officials congratulated Bulgaria on its progress towards its accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) where integrity is likewise an essential aspect. Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev noted that following his meeting with the OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann in Paris, it is for the first time that Bulgaria has a specific deadline for joining the OECD.
