Bulgarian University in Taraclia with enrolment from next academic year

18.01.2024

It is the ambition of the Bulgarian University in Taraclia to start enrolment from the next academic year. The news was released following the meeting in Davos of the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria and Moldova Acad. Nikolai Denkov and Dorin Recean.

Moldova and Bulgaria are preparing the documents to make it possible to transform the Gregory Tsamblak State University in Taraclia into a branch of the Angel Kanchev University of Rousse.

“This is not just a big step for education in the region but also a message of what Europe is in terms of opportunities, connectivity and upgrading in each sector of public life,” Acad. Nikolai Denkov said.

Dorin Recean personally thanked his Bulgarian counterpart for the project for the University in Taraclia as he emphasized that Acad. Denkov’s idea would help Moldova in countering external influences in that region of his country.

The development of the university is of key importance for the Taraclia region where there is a large Bulgarian minority. The university is important for the training of highly skilled local professionals and for building a bridge to Bulgarian educational institutions and strengthens the connection of the Bulgarian community in the region with our country.

Moldova will count on Bulgaria for energy supplies, inter alia. Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov and the leader of “We Continue the Change” Kiril Petkov who attended the meeting introduced Moldova’s Prime Minister to the project of energy and transport connectivity along the Greece-Bulgaria-Romania axis. Moldova will be able to gain from that, too. “Chisinau is strongly interested in the said project,” Dorin Recean said. He congratulated Bulgaria on its accession to Schengen and noted that this shows that despite all, the mood prevailing in Europe favors opening and enlargement that tallies with Moldova’s expectations.
