Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev reports: job done

09.08.2024

“This government has done its job; no complaints have been brought about the election process. We have continued to navigate along the European course for Bulgaria.” This statement was made by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev for media in the capital of France, Paris, that he visited as a venue of the Olympic Games.

“With every passing day, the political situation is getting more complicated and tensions have arisen. The escalation has reached a point where it was demanded to replace the Speaker of the National Assembly who is the supreme authority in the State, as the Constitution proclaims. It was absolutely incomprehensible to me and devoid of reason. I thought it would be wise to save my good reputation that I believe I have. I was alleged of dependencies that I am unaware of, and I thought it would be better to do what I did.” This was the Prime Minister’s comment on his refusal to accept to act again as the head of a caretaker government. Dimitar Glavchev pointed out that it would be best if the judgement of his performance is left to the Bulgarian citizens.

The Prime Minister said that he took the position a few months ago as other eligible officials declined it. “Other applicants are now around, may they be given a chance,” Mr. Glavchev urged.

The Prime Minister congratulated once more all Bulgarian athletes on their achievements won at the Olympic Games and wished victory to all in the still upcoming sports events.
