27.02.2024

Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov met with Slovenia’s President Nataša Pirc Musar in his office. The Prime Minister noted that the visit of Slovenia’s President to Bulgaria is a clear sign of the excellent bilateral dialog and is a very good opportunity to boost the cooperation between our countries in all sectors. “I am convinced that there exists extra potential for partnership in innovation and entrepreneurship,” Acad. Denkov pointed out. Further, he said that the two countries should work to increase two-way travels between our countries.

“We already have good cooperation in education and science, yet I believe that more direct contacts between the relevant institutions will generate additional ideas about how to diversify citizen-to-citizen contacts. Our effort should focus on support for the mobility of university students, doctoral students and instructors by the conclusion of agreements on direct cooperation between universities in both countries, the opening of joint science and education centers, sharing ideas and experience on modes of international cooperation in sciences and technologies,” the Prime Minister noted.

Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov informed President Nataša Pirc Musar about the possibilities of the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology INSAIT. Acad. Denkov explained that the Bulgarian invention BgGPT is the first open large last-generation language model for AI in Bulgarian that will allow free use by Bulgarian public or private organizations.

Another focus of the meeting was the enlargement of the European Union towards the Western Balkans. “Our region has a huge potential for development if we work together,” Acad. Denkov said firmly. The Prime Minister vowed that while Bulgaria supports the EU enlargement, the candidates for EU membership should meet the commitments that they have made.
