PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV ATTENDED THE OPENING OF THE NEW AIRPORT IN ISTANBUL

29.10.2018

"It is my honor and pleasure to attend this solemn opening of the new Istanbul airport, which happens on the national holiday of neighboring, friendly and allied Turkey - 29 October." This was stated by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov in front of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who welcomed him prior to the ceremony.

"I am convinced that the new Istanbul airport is not only a huge contribution to the development of transport infrastructure, people-to-people contacts, and the development of trade and economic relations. It is a significant step in the realization of the infrastructure connectivity of the region with the EU, which was among the priorities of the Bulgarian foreign policy during our Presidency of the Council of the EU," Prime Minister Borissov told the Turkish President. The Bulgarian Prime Minister expressed firm conviction that, in addition to being Bulgaria's immediate neighbor, Turkey remains an important partner in areas, such as migration, the fight against terrorism, energy, agriculture and livestock, and trade.

"I believe that the opening of the new airport symbolizes both our past common successes and our future cooperation, mutual trust, tolerance and peace," Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said.
