PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV: THE EU-TURKEY AGREEMENT IS IMPORTANT FOR ALL EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed deepening the bilateral cooperation and Turkey's contribution to addressing the migratory influx on the Bulgarian border. The two spoke at the 73rd UN session in the United States.

 

Boyko Borissov and Erdogan expressed appreciation for the positive economic boost in recent years in the relations between the two countries in the fields of tourism, energy, and transport.

 

At the meeting, Bulgarian Prime Minister Borissov highlighted that Turkey is not only our immediate neighbor, but also an important partner in respect to managing migration and counteracting terrorism. Turkish President Erdogan expressed gratitude for Prime Minister Boyko Borissov for holding the EU-Turkey summit in Varna on 26 March. According to the Turkish President, the meeting in Varna gave a positive direction for the development of the relations between Ankara and Brussels.

 

The Bulgarian Prime Minister underlined the importance of the EU-Turkey agreement for all European countries and pointed out that peace and dialogue are the best instruments of diplomacy.
