PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV MET WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA MOON JAE-IN

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in. The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the fruitful political dialogue achieved during his current official visit to Seoul. Our task now is to provide substance and concrete practical results to the bilateral political cooperation on the basis of the achieved political trust, said Prime Minister Borissov.

 

During the talks at the Presidential Palace, the Bulgarian Prime Minister noted that a priority for our country is to attract Korean investments and to increase Bulgarian exports to the Republic of Korea. Prime Minister Borissov said that we rely on the assistance of President Moon and his government to encourage Korean business to turn its attention to Bulgaria. Borissov put an emphasis on the competitive advantages of the Bulgarian economy, such as the excellent business climate, low taxation, skilled workforce and access to the vast EU market.

 

With regard to the situation on the Korean Peninsula, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said that the Bulgarian position is consistent and certain and is in favor of finding a peaceful solution through diplomatic channels. "Bulgaria appreciates the leading role of the Republic of Korea and your personal efforts, Mr. President, in making progress in the inter-Korean dialogue and in reducing the tension on the Korean Peninsula," Prime Minister Borissov added. The Bulgarian Prime Minister expressed his hope that the diplomatic efforts to achieve sustainable peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula will continue.

 

"The Prime Minister of Bulgaria has been visiting Korea since we established diplomatic relations in 1990. Your visit is of great importance since we will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of our bilateral relations next year," said the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in to Prime Minister Borissov. 

 

The Korean president stated that Bulgaria is the leader of the Balkan countries, due to the excellent leadership of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. Moon Jae-in also noted the achieved economic growth of our country among the EU Member States, as well as the high praise for the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council in 2018.

 

"The two states have great potential to expand the practical cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, energy, defense industry," emphasized the President of the Republic of Korea and praised the talks held during the visit of Boyko Borissov.

 

Moon Jae-in pointed out that the trade between the two countries is increasing and committed to advertising Bulgaria because it attracts Korean companies with good business conditions and low taxation.

 

During the talk, the Korean side offered cooperation in the IT sector as they have heard how good the Bulgarian specialists are. President Moon Jae-in also said that there should be a closer partnership in tourism because Korean tourists in Bulgaria are increasing and because he himself is impressed by Nessebar.

 

At the end of the meeting, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said that since he is holding the position of Prime Minister he is visiting only states, where work can be done and real results can be achieved.
