PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV AND EU COMMISSIONER BIENKOWSKA DISCUSSED EFFECTIVE ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT AND INNOVATION IN THE EU

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs Elzbieta Biankovska discussed strengthening of the Single Market, digital infrastructure, and the innovation potential of the European economy. It was emphasized that this process is key to improving Member States' competitiveness and the business environment. The active work of the Bulgarian Presidency to achieve progress on the open dossiers in the economic field was also noted.
 
EU Commissioner Bienkowska expressed satisfaction with the active policy of Bulgaria in respect to the transport and digital connectivity of the Western Balkan countries. Prime Minister Borissov thanked for the excellent cooperation with the Commission on this priority, which will have added value for the development not only of the region but also of the whole Union. He pointed out that he sees commitment on the side of all leaders and institutions with whom he has discussed the possibilities for implementing the projects. According to him, this gives him ground to believe that the interest of European institutions and the member states in the Western Balkans will be maintained after the end of the Bulgarian Presidency.
 
Prime Minister Borissov and Commissioner Bienkowska also commented on the opportunities provided by the Commission's Multiannual Financial Framework for the period 2021-2027. Borissov pointed out that during its Presidency, Bulgaria will make every effort to bring closer Member States' positions on the policy priorities of the Union and the allocation of resources to those.
