BOYKO BORISSOV: ISRAEL IS A FRIEND WE CAN RELY ON

13.06.2018

I believe that every citizen of Israel knows deep within that we saved the Bulgarian Jews from deportation. Let us take a bow to the feats of the Bulgarian people, stated the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borissov at his meeting with the President of the State of Israel Reuven Rivlin.

Prime Minister Borissov pointed out that the heroism of the Bulgarian people in those years laid the foundations for the excellent cooperation between the two countries that we see today. "For us, the State of Israel is a friend we can rely on," the Bulgarian Prime Minister highlighted. Boyko Borissov congratulated Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on their wisdom and firmness in governing the state and said he is impressed with Israel's technological progress.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov noted that  in the world today conflicts are being tackled in a very personal way. "I can judge this based on the reactions of my colleagues in the European Union. Despite all, we are a democratic community and we must always seek dialogue," the Prime Minister said.

Israel's President Reuven Rivlin emphasized the deep respect that the citizens of Israel have for Bulgarians. "This friendship between the two nations contributes to the good political dialogue between Israel and Bulgaria. Together with Bulgaria, we are developing joint actions in a number of areas, and we believe there are still other sectors to work together successfully," said Revenge Rivlin. According to him, the State of Israel highly appreciates the attitude and the position of Bulgaria on the issues concerning relations between the Union and Israel while holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

President Rivlin was categorical that fascism and neo-fascism exist today. He expressed the opinion that the common responsibility of all countries is to fight against these phenomena because they are the embodiment of evil. "Israel is a democratic state and democracy is to be enjoyed by all citizens who live here," Rivlin underlined.
