15.02.2019

"Allow me to accept this award on behalf of all the Bulgarians who have made enormous efforts during the Bulgarian Presidency, all who believe that Serbia is an integral part of Europe, and that it will soon be a member of the European Union". This was stated by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov in Belgrade after he was awarded the "Order of the Republic of Serbia", which is the highest state honour of Serbia. The award was conferred by Serbian President Aleksander Vucic on the national holiday of our western neighbor - the Day of Statehood of the Republic of Serbia.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Borissov underlined that there is nothing better than having your neighbors be EU Member States, because together we can work on the identified infrastructure projects - railways, highways, gas pipelines, tourism. "I can assure you that no matter how difficult the world is, however difficult the decisions we made, especially after the war - I believe and see that Serbia is on the right path and there is nothing better than friendship, peace and camaraderie among peoples,” said Prime Minister Borissov.

"The Order of the Republic of Serbia" is the highest state honour of the country. It is awarded by a decree on the exceptional merits of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov for the development and consolidation of peaceful cooperation and friendly relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Bulgaria.
