PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV PARTICIPATED AT THE HIGH-LEVEL MEETING "GLOBAL CALL TO ACTION ON THE WORLD DRUG PROBLEM", ORGANIZED BY US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov took part in the the high-level meeting "Global Call to Action on the World Drug Problem". The forum, which took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, was organized by US President Donald Trump with Bulgaria as the co-host of the meeting. Prime Minister Borissov heads the Bulgarian delegation to the 73rd UN session.

 

At the summit, the participating countries declared a firm commitment to take action for combating the drug problem. Each country declared its readiness to work for the implementation of a strategy that strives to limit to the maximum the distribution and use of narcotic drugs. The document stipulates four key points that countries have committed to work on: reducing demand for drugs through education, campaigns and drug abuse prevention; expanding treatment efforts to save lives and promoting the recovery of drug addicts; strengthening international cooperation in the judiciary, law enforcement and the health sectors; and hindering access to illicit drugs by ceasing production and trafficking.
