PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV MET WITH THE TURKISH MINISTER OF INTERIOR SULEYMAN SOYLU

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met  with the Turkish Minister of Interior  Suleyman Soylu, who is on a visit to Sofia. The two discussed security cooperation, managing the migratory pressure, counteracting smuggling and organized crime.

 

“For Bulgaria as well as for the EU, Turkey is a strategic partner - a friendly neighbor country, a NATO ally, and an important partner in the field of security and public order. The stable and sustainable development of our bilateral relations is a priority of the Bulgarian policy,” said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. He underlined that the joint work of the two countries in this field will contribute to strengthening trust and accelerating the exchange of information.

 

Prime Minister Borissov pointed out that our country is ready to expand and intensify contacts with Turkey on a professional level among the various structures of the two ministries with similar functions. “To date, our successful realizations are mainly on drug trafficking and smuggling of goods. We would like to develop a proactive exchange of information along all priority lines,” the Prime Minister said.

 

Turkish Minister of Interior Suleyman Soylu noted that the region is currently facing many challenges. He praised the level of security cooperation that Bulgaria and Turkey have established.
