Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Congress Cao Jianming in the framework of the Fourth Meeting of the Local Leaders of the ‘16 + 1’ Initiative. The two discussed the agenda of the forum under the motto “Global Thinking, Local Action".
Prime Minister Boyko Borissov voiced confidence that the meeting of local leaders will contribute to the deepening of the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and China. "Representatives of all Bulgarian regions, as well as a large number of municipalities will participate in the forum. I hope they will establish contacts and cooperate on particular projects,” said Prime Minister Borissov. He underlined Bulgaria's desire to unfold its comprehensive friendly partnership with China by deepening political and economic contacts, and highlighted that in 2019 Bulgaria and China would mark the 70th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
"Bulgaria supports the China-CEECs Cooperation Initiative ’16 + 1’ and participates in its various formats. We appreciate the Seventh ‘16+1’ Summit that took place in Sofia on 7 July,” said Prime Minister Borissov. He pointed out the joint desire of all summit participants for further development of the cooperation in the "16 + 1" format in line with EU norms and regulations as one of the most significant results of the forum in Sofia. "An important instrument i this respect will be the Global Partnership Center of Central and Eastern Europe and China, the founding of which was decided upon during the July meeting," added the Bulgarian Prime Minister.
