15.11.2018

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov had bilateral meetings with the Prime Ministers of Montenegro and Serbia - Dusko Markovic and Ana Brnabic.

During the talks, high appreciation was expressed for the actions of Bulgaria, which even after its first Presidency of the Council of the EU actively continues to work for the European perspective and connectivity of the countries from the Western Balkans.

"The European project will not be completed without the Western Balkan countries, and their success on the road to the EU depends primarily on the political will of the leaders. Bulgaria will continue to support them in implementing EU-targeted reforms and projects," Prime Minister Borissov said. In his conversation with Brnabic, the Bulgarian Prime Minister pointed out that the normalization of the relations between Serbia and Kosovo is among the factors contributing to the political stability and security of the region that are of paramount importance. At the same time, the resumption of dialogue between the two countries should happen with mediation by the EU.

During the bilateral meeting, Prime Ministers Borissov and Markovic discussed the sustainable progress in Montenegro's EU accession talks. Borissov highlighted that the country remains a role-model and a leader in the region on the path towards joining the European family.

The focus of bilateral talks was also placed on energy connectivity and infrastructure projects, which are key both for the Balkans and Europe.
