The active cooperation between Bulgaria and the EBRD in support of the implementation of infrastructure projects on the Balkans is to continue. This was the highlight in the talks between Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti.

"Bulgaria has acquired and will continue to play a central role for the economic development of the region after the successful EU Presidency of the Council of the EU," said Suma Chakrabarti. The two discussed some of the projects related to the construction of Corridors 4, 8, and 10. According to Chakrabarti, the Bank will continue to focus its activities on the realization of the strategic infrastructure projects that were discussed at the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Sofia, as well as at the EBRD forums in February and within the Berlin Process in London in July.

During the meeting, the EBRD President and Prime Minister Borissov also discussed the possibility for financial experts from the Bank to support the work of the Global Partnership Center of CEECs and China to be established in Bulgaria. The EBRD participated as a permanent observer at the 16 + 1 Summit in Sofia, where Bulgarian Prime Minister Borissov and the Chairman of the State Council of China Li Keqiang agreed on its establishment.

The President of the EBRD and his team are on a working visit to Bulgaria. Chakrabarti informed Prime Minister Borissov about the positive results by the businesses that the bank is supporting. "The small, medium and large enterprises that we met, underlined their plans for more investments," Chakrabarti said in respect to the investment climate in our country.
