BOYKO BORISSOV MET WITH SEBASTIAN KURTZ AND DONALD TUSK

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and European Council President Donald Tusk held a meeting before the symbolic handover of the Presidency of the Council of the EU. The focus of the conversation was on the achieved results during the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council and the priorities for the next six months of the Austrian Presidency.


 
The Bulgarian Prime Minister thanked for the constructive dialogue within the Council, which provided an opportunity to renew attention on the Balkan region. "Giving a clear horizon for starting accession negotiations with Albania and the Republic of Macedonia has laid the foundations for the perspective of the entire region," Prime Minister Borissov said, and highlighted that the Western Balkan Summit in Sofia played a very important role in this process.


 
Prime Minister Borissov wished Chancellor Kurtz a successful Presidency and underlined that he can always rely on European Council President Donald Tusk.


 
The Austrian Presidency will work in continuation of the Bulgarian one in three respects by focusing on three main priorities - security and the the fight against illegal migration, competitiveness through digitalization, and the perspective for the countries of the Western Balkans and Southeast Europe.
