BULGARIA AND VIETNAM TO ENHANCE COOPERATION IN EDUCATION, HIGH TECHNOLOGY AND THE ECONOMY

03.07.2018

Bulgaria and Vietnam have long-term relations of friendship and there is potential to continuously develop bilateral economic ties and to strengthen the cooperation in the field of education and high technology. Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Dontchev and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Mr. Pham Binh Minh agreed on this at a meeting at the Council of Ministers today.

The two discussed the opportunities to enhance the economic relations by exchange of experience and expertise between the two countries and by increasing the exchange of highly qualified human resources. Readiness was expressed for the identification of concrete scenarios for joint production and for export promotion.

Deputy Prime Minister Dontchev expressed our country's support for the signing of a Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Union, which is expected to be discussed at a meeting of the EU Council in October this year. The EU is currently Vietnam's second largest trading partner and the biggest market for Vietnamese goods. In 2014, the trade turnover with the EU amounted to 28.4 billion euros, of which 6.2 billion were exports to Vietnam.
