BOYKO BORISSOV: THE BULGARIAN-TURKISH GAS CONNECTION CAN BE LAUNCHED AT THE END OF JUNE

The Bulgarian-Turkish gas connection can be launched at the end of June. This was clarified during the talks of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov with his Turkish counterpart Binali Yildirim. The meeting was held in Izmir, where Prime Minister Borissov was on invitation by the Turkish Prime Minister to be a guest at the launching ceremony of the TANAP Trans-Anatolian pipeline.


 
After the expansion of the pipeline to Turkey in the stretch between the “Lozenets” compressor station and the filtering facility "Nedyalsko" the transit capacity will be increased from 14 billion cubic meters to 15.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas through the connection per year. Additionally, natural gas can be transported in the reverse direction from Turkey to Bulgaria.


 
The relations between Bulgaria and Turkey are special and we are a role-model for good neighbors who help and respect each other, said the Bulgarian Prime Minister. The two Prime Ministers noted with satisfaction the growth in the economic relations between Bulgaria and Turkey. Relations in tourism are developing traditionally well. Binali Yildirim also stressed the relations of "even of different religions, we must live in peace in the name of our peoples.” That is why, at all meetings related to the Western Balkans I keep repeating the word "peace", Boyko Borissov said. As an example of these relations, the two men mentioned the renovation of the "St. Stefan” Church in Istanbul.


 
Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirum offered his condolences for the fatal incident with the Bulgarian military pilots near Plovdiv.


 
The Bulgarian delegation headed by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov also included Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Dontchev and the Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov, who will remain at the opening of the Trans-Anatolian pipeline TANAP.
