AT THE SOFIA SUMMIT, EBRD TO PRESENT CONCRETE PROJECTS FOR CONNECTIVITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE WESTERN BALKANS

In a telephone conversation on the initiative of the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Sir Suma Chakrabarti introduced Prime Minister Boyko Borissov to the current plans of the EBRD for the Western Balkans. He informed him that at the Summit in Sofia on 17 May he will present proposals for concrete projects in the field of connectivity and infrastructure.
 
Suma Chakrabarti thanked Borissov for the timely initiative of the Bulgarian capital to host talks at the highest level between the EU and Western Balkan countries. According to him, setting this priority for the Bulgarian Presidency and organizing the meeting comes at a decisive moment for the region. Sir Chakrabarti assured the Prime Minister that the EBRD will fully support its efforts to support the development of the Balkans. In recent years, the Bank has focused a significant part of its activity on this region and has organized a number of investment forums to support it, the EBRD President said. The most recebt one, which took place in February in London, welcomed Prime Minister Borissov as an honorary guest.
 
During the telephone conversation it was also stated that at the Summit in Sofia, Sir Suma Chakrabarti and Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will discuss with the leaders of the Western Balkan countries concrete opportunities for cooperation with the financial institution.
